Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a passionate LSA to support learners. You’ll provide 1:1 and small group interventions, support EHCP reviews, and help learners gain independence, confidence, and positive outcomes. At our centre, we aim to create an environment where learning is engaging and tailored to meet the needs of every learner.

Job Title:Learning Support Assistant

Location:Basildon Southgate

Working Hours: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday, 1-hour lunch, 37.5 hours per week (Term Time only 38 plus 2 weeks). Some flexibility on these hours may be required.

Contract Type:Fixed-term contract until July 2026

Reports to: Centre Manager

Salary Band: £21,546 gross per annum (FT equivalent £24,570)

What are we looking for?

Qualifications:

• Qualified to PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) - Essential

• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above - Essential

• L2/L3 Safeguarding - Essential

• SEN qualifications demonstrating knowledge and competency with ASD (autism spectrum disorder)

• Behaviour management training

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to learners in both group and individual settings

• Play an active role in classroom and physical activities alongside tutors

• Gain on-the-job training with continued professional development (CPD)

• Assist with lesson preparation, schemes of work, Individual Student Plans (ISPs) and Care Plans

• Maintain knowledge of each learner’s stage of development, assessments, and support needs

• Support with educational visits and accompany learners when required

• Follow and promote safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality, and data protection policies

Pre-employment checks

The company also conducts an internal online search on social media platforms in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. Should any pertinent information arise from this search, it will be discussed with the applicant as part of the recruitment process.

Please note that upon a successful job offer, the company performs digitalised right-to-work checks and initiates DBS applications through an external service provider. An enhanced DBS check, including the barred list, is mandatory for this role.
