Job description
Our client, a prominent name in the science and manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician on a 4 Month contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sampling at all specified points on raw materials, manufacturing processes, and finished goods for chemical and microbiological analysis
2. Conducting micro analysis of samples as per specified methods
3. Executing product sensory panels to meet requirements
4. Ensuring all quality and food safety checks are carried out satisfactorily
5. Informing the Technical Team of results outside specifications to initiate corrective actions
6. Controlling the Non-conformance database
7. Ensuring all daily/weekly/monthly tasks are completed as per schedule
8. Managing the Training Matrix and ensuring all trainings are up to date
9. Updating Laboratory Documents
10. Maintaining and calibrating analytical equipment as required
11. Ensuring raw materials & chemicals used within the laboratory are within acceptable date criteria
12. Arranging service contracts and maintaining high standards for equipment
13. Ordering materials and equipment as needed
14. Following procedures to ensure the quality laboratory operation meets requirements of external accredited bodies
15. Performing timely process confirmations in the lab
16. Providing technical support to other company departments as required
17. Observing company health and safety procedures and proactively ensuring continued updating of procedures
18. Completing GMP and internal audits on time
19. Assisting Quality Management with the implementation of quality systems and project work
20. Organising appropriate cover for the lab in the case of sickness, holidays, etc.
Job Requirements:
21. Practical experience of Good Laboratory Practices and microbiology testing
22. Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, adhering to QA/sensory and laboratory accreditation standards
23. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
24. Good written and verbal communication skills
25. Capability to interact with multiple levels within the business and external contractors
26. Proficient in PC skills with the ability to interpret analytical and microbiological data
27. Working knowledge of SAP is advantageous
28. Willingness and capability to learn new skills
29. Excellent attention to detail
30. Ability to work on a 12-hour day shift pattern, including weekends and Bank Holidays
31. Able to participate in the "On Call roster" for weekend cover
Key Qualifications:
32. Science degree or equivalent qualification
33. Food Safety Level 2 certification
34. Food Hygiene Level 2 certification
35. Internal Auditor qualification (preferable)
