Job Title: Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist

Detailed Job Description & Main Responsibilities
This post is based in the Cardiothoracic Radiology Department at Southampton General Hospital. The successful candidate will be fully accredited in Clinical Radiology and have significant training in Cardiothoracic Radiology.
Core duties include supporting the existing coronary CT imaging service, cardiac MR, interstitial lung disease (ILD) service, and TLHC programme. The service is regional and supported by a dedicated MRI and plain‑film facility.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver coronary CT imaging services at UHS.
* Provide cardiac MR imaging.
* Support ILD service and TLHC programme.
* Perform stress imaging and, where possible, congenital heart disease imaging.
* Report HRCT imaging and participate in ILD MDT.
* Provide independent reporting of TLHC (or lung cancer screening pilot) CTs.
* Participate in a dedicated on‑call cardiothoracic imaging service.
Additional Information
The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.
Person Specification
Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential Criteria
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* FRCR or equivalent.
* Completed general training in Radiology to specialist level at a recognised training centre to the standard of RCR UK training.
* Significant advanced clinical experience in at least two of Cardiac CT, Cardiac MR and thoracic CT modalities (ideally ≥12 months).
* Thoracic intervention including chest ultrasound guided procedures.
Desirable Criteria
* CCT Radiology.
* BASCI Level 2 accreditation or higher in cardiac CT (or equivalent SCCT/EACVI).
* EACVI or SCMR Level 2 accreditation or higher in cardiac MRI (or equivalent).
* International post‑CCT fellowship in Thoracic/ Cardiothoracic imaging.
* Training and significant experience in ILD CT and MDT.
* Training in congenital heart disease imaging.
* Training and independent reporting of targeted lung health check CT (or equivalent lung cancer screening pilot/trials CT).
* Experience using advanced post‑processing or reporting imaging tools.
* Publications in peer‑review literature specific to cardiothoracic radiology.
* Oral presentations at national or international meetings specific to cardiothoracic radiology.
