Job Description:
Senior Research Fellow (Legal Charity)
Location: can be remote within England under flexible working policy
Civitas Charity Recruitment is working with an independent national legal charity seeking a Senior Research Fellow to join its highly respected and impactful research team. The organisation works to ensure that individuals facing disadvantage can hold power to account and access justice. Its work spans legal research, policy, litigation, and training, with a focus on improving public decision-making and achieving fairness in society.
This role offers the chance to shape and lead high-quality research that supports access to justice and influences administrative law reform. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced colleagues and contribute to a shared vision of a fairer, more inclusive society. The position requires a combination of empirical research expertise, strategic thinking, and an ability to translate findings into action.
Who we are looking for
We're looking for someone with a strong grasp of public and administrative law and an understanding of the barriers to justice faced by many people. You’ll have a solid track record of designing and delivering impactful empirical research and be comfortable communicating your work to diverse audiences. Experience in developing research-informed policy, working with external partners, and contributing to funding bids is desirable. A commitment to equity, collaboration, and courage is essential. Lived experience or previous work with marginalized communities would be an asset.
This is a permanent role based in London, with flexible working options available. It can be full-time or part-time, with a minimum of 28 hours per week. The salary is £45,669 per annum, including eligibility for a cost-of-living uplift. Benefits include a 10% employer pension contribution after one year, 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), and flexible working arrangements from day one.
