About SWG Construction

SWG Construction (Build & Renovate) Ltd is a family-owned principal contractor, established in 2002 and headquartered in Welshpool. As part of the SWG Group, we deliver high-quality construction and development projects across Mid and North Wales, Shropshire, Herefordshire, and the West Midlands, with offices in both Welshpool and Wolverhampton.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor with at least three years’ experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. This is a role with a strong commercial management focus, helping to ensure our projects are delivered profitably, sustainably and to the highest standards.

Working closely with our Commercial Manager and project teams, you’ll play a key part in managing the financial and contractual success of projects across a wide range of sectors—from heritage refurbishments to large-scale new builds. For the right candidate, there are clear opportunities to develop and progress within the business.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee all commercial aspects of projects, from procurement through to final accounts.
* Prepare accurate cost plans, budgets, valuations and reports.
* Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier packages.
* Monitor costs to keep projects on budget while protecting company margins.
* Produce monthly cost/value reconciliations and cash flow forecasts.
* Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and colleagues.
* Support senior management in securing and delivering repeat business.

What You’ll Bring

* At least three years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction.
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent professional qualification (RICS membership desirable).
* Strong commercial acumen with excellent attention to detail.
* Experience across new build, refurbishment and design & build projects.
* Confident negotiation and communication skills.
* Good working knowledge of standard forms of contract (JCT/NEC).
* A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to manage multiple projects.

What We Offer

* Competitive salary of £35,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience).
* Company car allowance.
* 33 days’ holiday (including bank holidays) and a pension scheme.
* Real opportunities for career progression.
* A supportive, family-oriented culture where your contribution makes a difference.
