Training at Band 7 until completion of ACP training, then progression to Band 8a (Neurovascular). We are seeking a motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our expanding Neurovascular and Skull Base Neurosurgical service, working alongside Consultant Neurosurgeons, Interventional Radiology, Allied Health Professionals and a well‑established, supportive MDT.
The role involves supporting patients undergoing surgical and interventional neurovascular procedures, leading on a Neurovascular research portfolio, and contributing to the development of a research‑based culture within the specialty.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Neurovascular research portfolio, coordinating sub‑specialty research trials, patient experience and audit.
* Coordinate the care pathway for patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage and other neurovascular conditions across the inpatient, ICU and outpatient journey.
* Provide independent and autonomous clinical practice, including history taking, clinical examination, investigations, interpretation and management planning of both differentiated and undifferentiated patients.
* Support patients and families through education and guidance on the recovery journey.
* Manage and support complex neurovascular cases: cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), dural AV fistulas, Moyamoya disease and acute presentations such as subarachnoid haemorrhage.
* Collaborate with Neurosurgical and Interventional Radiology teams to ensure continuity of care and optimal treatment outcomes.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and audit initiatives.
* Provide clinical supervision and teaching to trainee staff.
Qualifications
* Regulated clinical practice registration.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience within Neurosciences at Band 7.
* MSc (Level 7) in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent; completion of ACP apprenticeship (PACR, PADRAP, NMP) or equivalent evidence.
* Demonstrated specialist knowledge in Neurovascular / Skull Base Neurosurgery.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD, clinical portfolio and maintenance of competency in advanced clinical skills.
* Strong autonomous clinical reasoning and decision‑making in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
* Experience in clinical skills assessment and teaching (desirable).

* Professional registration.
* MSc Advanced Practice with successful completion of ACP apprenticeship.
* Post‑graduate qualification in a relevant specialty or equivalent experience.
* Teaching and mentoring qualification.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD / clinical portfolio.
* Autonomous clinical reasoning and decision‑making.
* Experience in managing complex neurovascular cases.
Desirable criteria
* Intermediate / Advanced Life Support qualification or willingness to undertake.
* Acting as a clinical skills assessor.
