Paediatric Dietitian

We're looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate dietitian to join our team, giving an opportunity gain experience in paediatrics within a nationally renowned children's hospital.
Previous experience in paediatric dietetics is essential however support and training will be provided. You'll join our team, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Your work will be based on evidence and best practice guidelines, and you'll develop your skills in this rewarding and dynamic field.
You'll also participate in the Sheffield dietetic student training programme, supporting student dietitians on placements.

Main duties of the job
Reporting into the senior team members and the Dietetic Manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Manage a caseload of inpatients, outpatients, and telephone consultations, providing dietetic advice and developing personalised care plans.
* Assess nutritional needs, prescribe treatment, and collaborate with MDTs to adjust care plans.
* Maintain accurate records, support safe patient discharge, and collaborate with relevant agencies and catering services.
* Deliver high-quality education to healthcare professionals, adapting teaching methods and resources to meet diverse learning needs, including communication and psychological challenges.
* Participate in clinical audits, review new research, and contribute to the development of evidence-based dietetic procedures.
* Communicate complex or sensitive information, using counselling skills to build rapport and adapt methods to ensure understanding across diverse needs.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* UK Registered Dietitian with the Health Care Professions Council
* Post‑graduate qualification to Master's level or equivalent experience
* Member of the Paediatric Group of the BDA
* BDA Paediatric Group Module (appropriate to role)
* Counselling skills: including behaviour change skills and motivational approaches
Experience
* Experience working in diverse dietetic and clinical settings
* Experience managing caseloads and delivering high-quality patient care with appropriate supervisory support
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including discharge planning and community liaison
* Experience participating in clinical audits, service evaluations, and clinical governance
* Experience supporting pre‑registration dietetic student learning and involvement in clinical education
Knowledge and Skills
* Understanding of paediatric dietetic principles and nutritional care pathways professional frameworks including consent
* Knowledge of safeguarding principles and legal, ethical, and
* Ability to adapt communication style with cultural sensitivity, employing strategies such as motivational interviewing and counselling to engage diverse patient groups effectively
* Competence in using dietary analysis software for assessment and monitoring
* Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural approaches

* Ability to manage a busy caseload with appropriate supervision, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines
* Confident clinical decision-making within agreed protocols and with access to supervisory support
