Overview
Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Abingdon Community Hospital is offering a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist (OT). We are an adult inpatient physical rehabilitation service with a supportive, multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on person-centred interventions to improve daily activities, functioning and independence, with the goal of facilitating safe discharge from hospital.
We welcome applications from experienced Occupational Therapists who are compassionate and skilled in assessing and delivering interventions that enhance health and wellbeing. You will receive quality supervision, safeguarding and reflective practice, as part of a progressive service committed to development and improvement.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of safe and effective rehabilitative patient care and discharge planning in partnership with the multidisciplinary team within the community and acute sectors, supporting efficient use of resources.
* Participate in hands-on delivery of patient care.
* Work flexibly across localities and occasional weekends to meet service requirements.
* Work independently as part of an interdisciplinary team to prioritise, assess, plan and implement patient-specific OT programmes of care/rehabilitation, analyse patient needs and apply best practice.
* Undertake autonomous patient assessments using clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice and professional expertise; determine appropriate care plans and options.

Requirements
Essential experience and qualifications
* Professional qualification (degree or equivalent) and HCPC registration.
* Previous NHS or Adult Social Care experience and experience in a multidisciplinary team.
* Good knowledge of elderly care/rehabilitation and risk management; understanding of clinical governance.
* Excellent English verbal and written communication; ability to work across different environments.
Desirable
* Postgraduate education related to patient groups; practice educator qualification or equivalent; experience supervising junior staff/students.
* Good knowledge of rehabilitation and community services; awareness of national/local issues in this patient group; audit experience.
Other
* Hold a current driving licence and ability to work flexibly, including weekend working. Car ownership is desirable.
