Kitchen Manager / Head Chef
Foresters' Inn is a contemporary gastro‑pub offering a family‑friendly dining experience with a versatile menu, from light lunches to burgers and a range of beers, wines, and child‑friendly cocktails.
Our KITCHEN MANAGER / HEAD CHEF | Circa £42,000 per annum plus 12% bonus scheme will lead a dedicated team to deliver first‑class service and excellent food quality to our guests.
Responsibilities
* Effectively control, coordinate, and plan kitchen activities to outlined standards of procedure.
* Maintain high guest satisfaction levels through culinary leadership, ensuring quality of service, food & drink, value for money, and achieving or exceeding budgeted financial targets, including cost of sales.
* Be responsible for the daily management of the kitchen and team, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met according to company and legal requirements.
* Report directly to the Restaurant Manager and collaborate to ensure continued growth and success of the business.
* Facilitate and develop a culture that promotes general wellbeing, motivation, and morale of the team, while implementing effective performance management strategies.
Hours of Work
Work straight shifts, contracted to 150 hours per four‑week period on a flexible basis. Working days and hours may vary each week, but you will always receive at least the contracted hours. The village operates 365 days a year; shifts will include public/bank holidays and the Christmas/New Year period on a rota basis.
Essential Requirements
* Ability to lead a team in a busy kitchen environment.
* Strong financial awareness – stocktaking, schedule planning, wastage analysis, and controls.
* Previous experience in a large organisation with full management responsibility for the kitchen team.
* Experience in training and developing a kitchen team.
* Motivational approach towards colleagues and work.
* Empathetic and supportive leadership style.
* Ability to coach individuals to be accountable for their own performance.
Desirable Requirements
* Experience with back‑of‑house systems for stock management and ordering.
