Customer Delivery Driver - Tesco
Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. We offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with options to work fewer hours (minimum 12). As the face of Tesco on the road, you'll deliver from Lands' End to John O'Groats, meeting and talking to customers in their homes daily. This role involves more than driving; it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile. It is hands-on, physical, and varied, with each shift offering new experiences. While you’ll be delivering independently most of the time, a team of Managers and colleagues are always available for support.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Ensuring the van and trays are clean and organized.
2. Keeping the delivery area tidy and picking up litter.
3. Washing trays as part of the tray wash process.
4. Loading the van and checking its roadworthiness.
5. Communicating with customers about order changes, substitutions, and refunds.
6. Handling products with care.
7. Explaining substitution charges to customers.
8. Delivering within the scheduled time slot.
9. Calling customers if arriving early or late.
10. Building positive relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit.
11. Providing warm, welcoming interactions with customers and colleagues, and expressing gratitude.
12. Adapting quickly to customer needs and embracing change.
13. Sharing ideas to improve store and delivery services.
Requirements include a valid UK/EU/EEA driving license (full or automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
