The team enables independent authors, content creators, and publishers to publish their content as eBooks for distribution to the Kindle Store, Kindle Unlimited, and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. They also publish in print formats for sale on Amazon’s global marketplaces, bookstores, and other online retailers using Amazon’s state-of-the-art Print on Demand (POD) technology. The team is a vital part of Amazon’s vision to provide its Kindle and print book customers with the world’s largest selection in their preferred format – eBook or paperback.
The Support Engineering team provides tier 2 & 3 services for production support and offers multifaceted services to the Kindle digital product development teams. They collaborate with production operations teams for software product releases, coordination, and deployment. This role requires the ability to learn quickly and manage overlapping tasks effectively.
Key Job Functions Include:
1. Providing support for incoming tickets, including troubleshooting tasks across multiple products, features, and services.
2. Working on operations and maintenance coding projects, primarily in shell scripts and web technologies, with potential Java-based projects.
3. Supporting software deployment in staging and production environments.
4. Developing tools to aid operations and maintenance.
5. Reporting system and support statuses.
6. Owning one or more digital products or components.
7. Coordinating customer notifications and workflows to maintain service level agreements.
8. Collaborating with support teams for issue hand-offs and creating a team-specific knowledge base.

Basic Qualifications:
* 2+ years of software development or technical support experience.
* Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
* Experience with Unix systems.
* Scripting experience in modern programming languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development.
* Experience troubleshooting and maintaining hardware and software RAID.
* Experience with REST web services, XML, and JSON.
