Job description
I am looking for Cover Supervisors to work in Coventry
If you are looking for a route into teaching and want to gain experience before doing a PGCE then I may be able to help. I work with a large number of secondary schools in Coventry who use cover supervisors for their sickness absences. The work is very flexible and variable and I can find you work on the days you are free. This role is an ideal way to get paid teaching experience before doing a PGCE and will help you make the decision about choosing teaching as a career. Cover Supervisor work is not for the feint hearted but it is a hugely effective and rewarding way to work in education and get an insight into the daily running and needs of a secondary school.
To work as a cover supervisor it is essential to have had some kind of experience of working within an educational background and a bonus if you worked within a secondary school setting and you will need to hold a degree. You must have a confident and resilient personality, be firm but fair and be able to stamp your mark in the classroom.
The Role:
* A Cover Supervisor is likely to be used for day to day or cover or short-term absences of a teacher.
* Supervising work that has been set
* Managing the behaviour of pupils
* Dealing with immediate problems or emergencies according to school policies
* Provide additional support in classrooms
* Help out in other duties when needed such as lunch time, registrations, detentions and reception.
The Hours:
* All supply staff are expected to be at school for 8.30am until the end of the school day
* I can be as flexible as possible so that your work can fit in with other commitments such as college, Uni etc
I can help you with applying for an enhanced DBS which is a mandatory requirement to work in any school throughout the UK and I can talk you through and help with the process of getting registered.
If you would be interested in this role and would like more details please send your CV and I will call you for an initial chat.
