About Us
At Cross Gates and District Good Neighbours’ Scheme CIO (CDGNS), we are committed to reducing social isolation, promoting wellbeing, and supporting independent living for older people in our community. Through a wide range of social groups, outings, support and transport services, we help our members connect with others, stay active, and enjoy a better quality of life.
The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Group Support Worker to join our friendly team. In this role, you will:
* Support members during group sessions and activities.
* Escort and support members to and from groups.
* Encourage conversation and participation, helping members feel included and valued.
* Provide one-to-one support where needed.

We’re looking for someone who is:
* Friendly, patient, and approachable.
* A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
* Organised and reliable, with the ability to work as part of a team.
* Able to adapt and support the varying needs of older people.
* Committed to promoting inclusion, independence, and wellbeing.
Additional requirements of the role:
* Assisting members on and off transport, setting up rooms and supporting activities, which requires the ability to move and handle equipment.
* Safely supporting members with mobility needs.
Experience of working with older people or in a community setting would be an advantage but is not essential – the right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, making a real difference in the lives of older people.
What We Offer
A supportive and welcoming environment, training to help you succeed, and the opportunity to make a real difference. We are an inclusive employer and, where candidates are equally qualified, may take positive action to support underrepresented groups.
