About the role

North Tyneside Recovery Partnership (NTRP) is a dedicated service for anyone in North Tyneside, who is experiencing problems with drugs and/or alcohol.

The service does not have any age restrictions so can provide support to those of all ages.

We are here to help you get well and stay well. We believe recovery from addiction and substance misuse is possible for everyone, and we’re here to help you achieve it.

Our aim is to make recovery a reality in North Tyneside – whether you’re dealing with problematic drug and/or alcohol use or helping support others that are.

Are you looking for a volunteer role where you can share your knowledge of recovery to help others?

Can you commit to a regular weekly attendance to support our academy groups? (between 3 and 15 hours per to be agreed based on volunteer availability).

What you'll do;

1. Co-facilitating and supporting Open Access Recovery Groups
2. Supporting existing service users in their recovery journey.
3. Offering peer support to clients.
4. Supporting the engagement of hard-to-reach groups.
5. Raising awareness of the Service and other support services.
6. Co-production of new recovery groups
7. Supporting and co-production of EDI and Wellbeing activities.
8. To act as role models for recovery
9. To promote the benefits of treatment and recovery to new and potential service users
10. Engage clients into the recovery hubs and the Recovery Academies (RAD)
11. Inform clients of the recovery community
12. To assist workers client appointments where appropriate.
13. Develop resources e.g. posters, advertising activities.
14. Establish therapeutic relationships with clients.
15. Refer and signpost to specialist agencies when required by workers
16. Share own skills/experience.

Applicant Criteria

17. Calm natured
18. Excellent verbal communication skills
19. Non judgemental
20. Understanding and knowledge of harms of substance use
