Supplier Quality Engineer Job – Based in Bicester, Oxfordshire
A leading engineering company in Bicester, Oxfordshire is seeking a skilled and proactive Supplier Quality Engineer to join its growing team. This permanent, full-time position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of all materials and components sourced from suppliers.
Based at the company's Bicester site, the successful candidate will act as the primary quality interface with the supplier base, driving continuous improvement, managing supplier audits, and supporting both new product introductions and root cause investigations. The Supplier Quality Engineer will also collaborate closely with internal teams to maintain quality standards across production processes at the Bicester facility.
Responsibilities for the Supplier Quality Engineer Job:

Act as the primary liaison between the company and external suppliers regarding quality matters

Ensure clear material specifications for all purchased items
*
Define and enforce goods-inwards testing methods
*
Analyse and report on supplier-generated test data
*
Manage non-conforming materials and lead resolution with suppliers
*
Coordinate supplier returns, including logistics and system transactions
*
Lead root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions
*
Maintain and report supplier quality performance metrics
*
Support supplier business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
*
Develop and manage a vendor rating system
*
Conduct supplier audits and assessments, including travel when required
Required Skillset for the Supplier Quality Engineer Job:

Background in electronics or engineering
*
Experience in quality assurance or supplier quality, preferably in manufacturing
*
Understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plans
*
Familiarity with ISO9001 and ideally IATF 16949 standards
*
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
*
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
*
Proficient in conducting MSA studies, dimensional inspections, and using tools such as CMM or Faro arms
