Role Overview
The SENCO will lead and coordinate the school’s SEND strategy and ensure effective provision for students with additional needs.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading implementation of SEND policy
* Managing EHCP reviews and documentation
* Coordinating targeted interventions
* Supporting teachers with differentiation strategies
* Monitoring progress of students with SEND
* Leading and developing teaching assistants
* Liaising with parents and external professionals
* Managing SEND budget allocation
* Ensuring compliance with SEND Code of Practice
* Reporting to SLT and Governors
This is a leadership role requiring strategic oversight and strong collaboration skills.
SEND Team
The SENCO leads a team of experienced support staff and works closely with pastoral leaders and safeguarding teams. Regular progress reviews are embedded into school systems.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* SEND qualification (or willingness to complete NASENCO)
* Experience leading SEND provision
* Strong understanding of SEND legislation
