School Information

This well-established 11–18 Good secondary school in Guildford is recognised for its inclusive ethos, structured leadership, and commitment to student achievement. The school serves a mixed and diverse community and maintains strong academic standards across all key stages.

Inclusion is a core strategic priority. The school has developed structured intervention programmes, strong collaboration between teaching and support staff, and well-equipped learning support facilities. Students with additional needs are supported through targeted provision, specialist teaching assistants, and carefully monitored progress systems.

Leadership places strong emphasis on safeguarding, compliance, and professional collaboration. Due to further development of SEND provision, the school is seeking an experienced and proactive SENCO.


Role Overview

The SENCO will lead and coordinate the school’s SEND strategy and ensure effective provision for students with additional needs.

Key responsibilities include:

* Leading implementation of SEND policy

* Managing EHCP reviews and documentation

* Coordinating targeted interventions

* Supporting teachers with differentiation strategies

* Monitoring progress of students with SEND

* Leading and developing teaching assistants

* Liaising with parents and external professionals

* Managing SEND budget allocation

* Ensuring compliance with SEND Code of Practice

* Reporting to SLT and Governors

This is a leadership role requiring strategic oversight and strong collaboration skills.


SEND Team

The SENCO leads a team of experienced support staff and works closely with pastoral leaders and safeguarding teams. Regular progress reviews are embedded into school systems.


Candidate Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

* SEND qualification (or willingness to complete NASENCO)

* Experience leading SEND provision

* Strong understanding of SEND legislation

* Excellent leadership and communication skills

* Organisational and analytical capability

* Commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
