Research Associate/Fellow – Additive Biofabrication Laboratory, University of Nottingham.
Salary
£31,387 to £46,485 per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £35,608 with relevant PhD).
Location
University Park.
Contract
Full-time (36.25 hours/week), fixed-term 24 months, starting 1 July 2026.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver experiments spanning quantitative cell phenotyping, transcriptomic and metabolomic profiling, with a focus on how curvature-driven responses differ between cell types. Conduct advanced microscopy, mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and molecular profiling, and contribute to the development of bioinstructive 3D printed biomaterials for regenerative medicine.
Qualifications
* PhD in life sciences or a closely related field (or near completion).
* Experience with mass spectrometry of metabolites (LESA‑MS, ToF‑SIMS) and associated pathway analysis/data processing workflows.
* Proficiency in PCR, RNA‑seq, in vitro mammalian cell culture, fluorescent/confocal imaging and automated image analysis.
* Evidence of high‑quality research outputs appropriate to career stage.
Preferred
* Knowledge of advanced analytical approaches such as LESA‑MS or ToF‑SIMS.
* Experience with quantitative image analysis, time‑lapse microscopy or working with mesenchymal stromal cells, fibroblasts, or primary human cells.
