We’re looking for a Business Services Co-ordinator to join us at the Dunster Portfolio which consists of Dunster Castle and Coleridge Cottage. Salary: 26,793.00 per annum Hours/ Working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. You may be asked to work weekends and bank holidays, to work outside sometimes, and to support and sometimes travel to other National Trust sites. Contract: Permanent Interview date: Friday 1st August 2025 Potential start date: ASAP What it's like to work here Dunster Castle, perched on a wooded hill, is a place with deep historical roots, dating back to Norman times. The site includes a medieval gatehouse, a ruined tower, and a castle that was transformed into a lavish country home in the 19th century by the Luttrell family, who lived here for 600 years. The grounds feature terraced gardens with Mediterranean and subtropical plants, a tranquil riverside garden, a natural play area, and a historic watermill, offering stunning views over the Bristol Channel. Dunster Castle attracts visitors from near and far, providing an opportunity to engage a diverse audience and create memorable experiences. Coleridge Cottage was the home to Samuel Coleridge, the famed romantic poet who took inspiration from the surrounding countryside and nature of Nether Stowey to create some of his most famous works. The cottage is a charming, intimate experience where visitors and community groups are welcomed into Coleridge’s world to get a glimpse of how he lived and worked. You’ll be reporting to the General Manager and sit on the Property Leadership Team, working closely with colleagues from Visitor Experience, Facilities, Gardens, Collections & House and the Watermill at Dunster Castle, and the Coleridge Cottage team, to ensure that the Portfolio runs smoothly. What you'll be doing This is a busy place, with a lot going on, and you’ll find that no two days are the same. Generally, you’ll be supporting day-to-day operations, covering a wide range of duties. You’ll respond to visitor enquiries via email and phone, and support the Heads of Department in ensuring the Portfolio stays up to date with its health and safety and compliance tasks. You’ll help the Property review and prepare key procedures, including the Emergency Plan, and ensure the Portfolio’s key statistics, such as visitor numbers, are kept up to date. You'll manage the Portfolio’s petty cash and support end-of-year financial tasks. You’ll also assist with the Portfolio’s climate and environmental planning and prepare the quarterly Property News update to keep staff and volunteers informed. Providing support to the Facilities team will also be part of your role, including help with planning, scheduling, and obtaining quotes. Additionally, you’ll organise required training for the Portfolio, such as First Aid and Fire Safety training, and arrange the Annual Volunteer and Staff Meeting. General administration tasks will form part of your duties too, such as renewing parking permits, ordering stationery, managing post, archiving records, preparing Duty Manager rotas, and taking minutes at meetings. Your advice and experience will be sought after by others beyond the office team. You’ll be a champion of best practice when it comes to business support, and will confidently challenge the status quo when you think there’s a better way of doing something.
