As the Specialty Business Manager, you will take ownership of the patient pathways within the Specialty units, ensuring that all operational performance targets are closely monitored, tracked, and consistently achieved. In this pivotal role, you will provide strong leadership and effective management to both the performance and capacity teams, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Main duties of the job
Your role is to lead and manage the patient pathways within the Specialty Business Units (SBUs), ensuring that available resources are utilised effectively and efficiently to deliver services that meet the highest standards of quality, best practice, and performance targets.
You will oversee a dedicated and diverse team comprising a Specialty Business Manager, a Senior Performance Manager, three Clinical Support Managers, a rota coordinator, two patient pathway coordinators, MDT coordinators, medical secretaries, and administrative assistants. Collaboration is key — from a clinical standpoint, you will work closely and seamlessly with the Clinical Directors and Matrons of each speciality to drive continuous improvement and deliver exceptional patient care.

Qualifications and Education
Essential criteria
1. Diploma in NHS Management, Degree (or equivalent clinical qualification) or equivalent experience.
2. Appropriate professional management qualification
3. Participation in continuing professional development to improve and update specialist knowledge
Knowledge and Experience

4. Experience of operational management in NHS
5. Detailed understanding and experience of the operation of acute hospital services and performance targets
6. Experience of managing a budget.
