Job Description:
Overview:
The Duty and Assessment team is the frontline, single point of contact for safeguarding concerns related to young people in the catchment area. Reports come into the MASH service and are passed to DAAT. The team comprises 6 units, each with 8-10 staff, including a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers, and Family Support Workers.
Service expectations include visiting CIN cases within 5 days, and CP cases within 24 hours or the same day if possible, to ensure prompt support for children.
DAAT is a countywide service covering Northamptonshire. Candidates will be supported to work within their allocated geographical area (e.g., Daventry, Northampton Central, Corby).
Working Arrangements:
The team operates on a 6-week duty cycle. During their duty week, candidates must be in the office for the full week and available locally for visits. Remote work is permitted for the remaining 4 weeks, with provided equipment such as laptops, keyboards, and extra screens.
Condensed hours will be considered, but candidates must commit to full-time work during their duty week.
Team Environment:
DAAT at NCT is a stable service with experienced management. Caseloads are capped at 35, currently around 25-30, often involving families with multiple children, meaning social workers typically work with about 5 families at a time.
The service offers training opportunities based on time served, and expenses include a weekly allowance for candidates over 60 miles from the office, daily allowances for working outside the duty week, and mileage reimbursement.
