An Emergency Department (ED) Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) is a crucial, high-acuity role designed to support nurses and clinicians in a fast-paced environment. A Band 3 HCSW is expected to possess or develop specific clinical competencies, often working with reduced supervision to help manage patient flow, particularly in triage, resus, and urgent care.
The successful applicant must be willing to work shifts across a 7 day rota. Shifts run from 07:00-19:30 and 19:00-07:30. Work schedules are provided up to three months in advance.
Responsibilities
* Clinical Care & Assessment: You will perform delegated clinical tasks, including taking and recording accurate vital signs (NEWS2), ECGs, venepuncture, cannulation, simple wound care, and urinalysis.
* Patient Support: Providing holistic care to patients, assisting with mobility, and providing comfort to those who are distressed, injured, or have self-harmed.
* Department Flow: Actively supporting the clinical team to improve patient flow through the department, ensuring patients are safely moved, and assisting in the rapid assessment process.
* Safety & Compliance: Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment (e.g., in resuscitation areas), and following strict infection control protocols.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications
* Basic Education NVQ level 2 in care
* Qualified to Level 3 in care Completed the Care certificate course
