This is a leadership position for an expert musician capable of managing a busy department and maintaining the school’s long-standing musical traditions. The Role You will lead the Music department, overseeing the academic curriculum and a wide-reaching extracurricular program. The role requires a balance of classroom teaching and the management of peripatetic staff and school ensembles. Key responsibilities include: Leading the Music curriculum at KS3, KS4, and A-Level Conducting the school’s main orchestra and chapel choir Coordinating a full calendar of concerts, recitals, and cathedral services Managing the departmental budget and instrument inventory Mentoring students through university music scholarship applications The School Environment This York school features exceptional musical facilities, including a dedicated concert hall, practice suites, and a pipe organ.
