Job Description

Agatha Christie Festival is a registered charity. We programme & deliver an annual festival designed to celebrate the life, legacy & provenance of world‑best selling author, Torquay‑born, Agatha Christie. Building upon the Christie provenance, and integral to our work, is a bespoke creative learning programme open to all Torbay schoolchildren, designed to advance literacy and a love of reading. Our schools programme this year is supported through public funding from National Lottery Arts Council England. To help us achieve our goals for Torbay schools in 2026/7, we are seeking a part‑time freelance Schools Programme Project Officer for a 12 month fixed term. Job Requirements

We are looking for a versatile & motivated Project Officer to work with our festival team to project‑manage the Festival's programme of creative education for primary & secondary‑school age young people in Torbay (Torquay, Paignton & Brixham) across 2026/7. The framework & timetable for the programme is already established. The project is funded through a grant from National Lottery Arts Council England and the post is fixed term & part‑time for 12 months. We are offering an inclusive fee of £5,240 for ca 30 days across the year. Essential: at least 3 years experience of delivering similar community projects; proven experience of working with Torbay schools; excellent interpersonal skills. Preferred: able to start immediately; Torbay‑based; DBS check; clean driving licence.


Job Responsibilities

The Project Officer will work with the festival team and its creative education partners The Writers Block, MED Theatre & Doorstep Arts to ensure:

* Timely communications planning, reaching schools in Torbay, particularly state schools in the more deprived wards of Torbay, in good time through appropriate channels, sharing the opportunity with them.
* Liaison with the Festival's educational partners, ensuring partnership agreements are in place.
* Each workshop session is booked to capacity.
* Careful administration of bookings, liaison with teachers & TA's as appropriate, noting and fulfilling any special needs at the sessions.
* Careful administration of compliance, such as risk management, health & safety.
* Liaison with Torbay cultural venues where the workshop sessions will take place, administration of booking forms.
* Attendance at workshop sessions, representing the Festival, to ensure smooth operation.
* Administration of invoices.
* Assisting with evaluation/feedback.
