Reference: eb6034a9 I’m a professional woman in my 50s who has been made disabled about 5 years ago and have been adapting to it alone due to covid. The time has come for me to look for a carer/companion who can help me with the household management, my day to day, weekly and monthly tasks. I have brain injury due to Multiple Sclerosis and Meningitis. I’m immune suppressed due to a drug trial I’m on, and I have memory and cognitive issues. I am settled and happy in my new life, and positive about my future. I just need to have my routine supported with my care support and I will be set. I’d prefer my PA to have some carer experience, just because this is my first time, and its overwhelming for me. Some guidance and reassurance would be appreciated. Because of my memory challenges, I’d like us to plan the tasks, and you then manage them using your own initiative and being flexible, rather than looking to me for that daily. Someone to go out socially with at times, but be ready if something goes wrong, to take charge and do the necessary. Other than that, its tasks like changing the bed, being in my home while I shower, just in case, and some cooking and cleaning with me. I want to be independent but still do things when I can to keep bright and active. I use a powerchair outside and walk in the house sometimes. I’m learning to walk outside with my walker again, so could do short distances outside. My treatment is twice a year in February and August, we can work out what works then together. I’d really like someone who will settle in and become a regular part of my life due to my memory issues. It’s a lot to get to know someone. A warm, professional relationship is where my hopes are.
