What you ll do:
As Finance Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the company, leading a small finance team, and ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of financial information to the Group.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
* Lead, support, and develop a small team comprising an Accounts Payable Clerk and an Assistant Management Accountant.
* Allocate responsibilities and manage workloads effectively to ensure efficient and accurate transactional processing.
* Own the month-end close process, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete reporting of financial performance.
* Ensure all accounting records are maintained in accordance with applicable UK accounting standards and company policies.
* Prepare and submit monthly management accounts to Group Finance, with clear variance analysis and commentary.
* Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and controls to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
* Standardise workflows and embed a strong control environment across the finance function
* Work closely with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
* Act as a key point of contact for Group Finance and external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, tax advisors).
* Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, and other HMRC filings.
* Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors during interim and year-end audits
What you ll need:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager or senior finance role, ideally within a medium-sized business.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands-on experience with month-end close and management reporting.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a small team.
* Strong process orientation with a track record of driving operational improvements in finance
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with finance systems (ERP knowledge advantageous).
