Product Designer - UK Remote - 12 months contract - Social media platform - £47 per hour PAYE + holiday benefit
The Business Messaging team is looking for a Product Designer to lead while our currently staffed designer is on maternity leave. Our app makes it convenient for people to get stuff done with businesses (e.g., getting a quote, booking an appointment, ordering a bus ticket), without ever needing to leave WhatsApp, which results in a better return on investment and improves customer satisfaction.
* You'll be the sole designer for a cross-functional product team, including 8 engineers.
* You'll execute on a fully formed product roadmap for H1 and will be able to strategically influence the roadmap for H2.
* You'll be supported by a senior designer who has worked on Flows before (but you're expected to do all the design work for Flows).
* The surfaces you’ll design for are high visibility, so we need a designer who loves sweating over the details, excels at visual design, and is fluent in prototyping.
* The design work spans across mobile and web.
* You'll be a core part of the design team, including crits.
Minimum Requirements:
* 5-10 years of experience in UX/UI design, prototyping, and visual design.
* 5+ years designing consumer-facing products on mobile/web (experience designing for businesses is a plus).
Day to Day Responsibilities:
1. Projects – scaling to web; everything they have on the mobile app needs to work on web.
2. Appointment booking integration – a large enterprise can add this feature to their WhatsApp.
3. Building new components as required.
Project Lifecycle: Be a part of product definition, have design integrations, conduct design reviews – here they need to be able to demonstrate their design with visuals, so they need to be good with presenting and decks. Then perform usability testing; once cleared, they will go into build review and ongoing integration support from the engineering team to ensure what they designed is being built. The final part will be launching and monitoring if everything is working well on the app.
