We have vacancies in our Emergency Duty Service for AMHPs, Children’s Social Workers and Adult Social Workers We are seeking experienced and dedicated social workers to join our Emergency Duty Service (EDS) on a casual, standby sessional basis. This is a vital role supporting our statutory responsibilities outside of standard working hours. As a generic social work team, we cover the entire county of Staffordshire, responding to urgent assessments that cannot safely wait until the next working day. Shift Details Weekdays (Monday to Friday): 17:00 – 00:00 Weekends & Bank Holidays: Day Shift: 08:30 – 16:30 Evening Shift: 16:30 – 00:00 Shifts are allocated based on your availability for each month. Your pay will be made up of hourly rate, standby retainer and an enhancement when engaged Standby Social Workers are fully supported during shifts by the EDS Team Coordinator and on-duty EDS Workers. Main Responsibilities You'll be : representing the Emergency Duty Service providing a service outside of normal office hours. carrying out tasks related to the following and dependent on relevant qualification and experience for the task: To secure the provision of a range of services in urgent situations, for the care of children for whom the local authority has a statutory duty and responsibility under the provisions of the Children Act 1989. To secure provision of a range of services in crisis situations, for adult service users within the framework of the Care Act 2014. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users who require urgent assessment subject to the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983. To facilitate the delivery of services to children, young people and adults in police custody, as outlined in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1983 (PACE). To ensure that health and safety matters are considered when undertaking a piece of work. The Ideal Candidate Working in the Emergency Duty Service requires teamwork, good organisational skills and a good level of competency using IT systems.
