Overview
The Automation Engineering team at GSK Ware is integral to maintaining and optimising the site's manufacturing processes, leveraging advanced automation and control systems to produce innovative medicines for respiratory diseases, HIV, and cancer. The team combines hands-on engineering expertise with a deep understanding of automated equipment, enabling them to modify, improve, and continuously enhance systems for efficiency and compliance. From system design and installation to operational support and regulatory validation, the team ensures the site meets high standards while driving innovation and delivering tangible business benefits.
Key Placement Learnings / Responsibilities
* Assist engineers in updating control logic and user interfaces for process equipment, ensuring all changes follow proper procedures.
* Collect and analyse operational data to identify causes of downtime or variability and present their findings.
* Support system validation by helping execute test plans, recording results, and preparing documentation to confirm automation systems work correctly.
* Develop skills in understanding and modifying control systems, analysing operational data to identify performance issues, and applying structured methods to verify that automation systems operate as intended.
* Build attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and experience in working within regulated engineering environments.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Robotics; you will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement.
* You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) University for the duration of your placement. If you have already graduated with a Bachelor's Degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
* Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English.
* Teamworking through working with multidisciplinary teams; Communication (written & verbal); Time management; Problem-solving; Networking; Data analysis and management; Technical skills (detailed within each role description).

* Duration: 1 year (approximately)
* Salary: £25,400 plus a bonus
* Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required
