Job Title: Pupil Support Assistant (2)
We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about improving life chances for all, so that children and young people can achieve their full potential.
As a Pupil Support Assistant (2), you will work under the supervision of a class teacher or senior staff to support children and young people requiring additional support.
You will support pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in areas of learning and personal development.
Responsibilities include contributing to planning and review processes for individual pupils/children, supervising self-administration of medication, and providing high levels of personal care to enable pupils/children to function fully. This includes toileting, administering medication as per training, and encouraging independence.
You will implement support programs designed by specialists, such as speech and language, physiotherapy, or occupational therapy programs.
Support mobility and assist with toileting or injury management, including moving and handling training.

The Person
You should have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
Experience supporting young people with additional support needs is required.
For Early Learning Centres, Primary, and Special Schools: relevant qualifications such as NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6, SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or a Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6, or equivalent, or a commitment to achieve one within the first registration period.
Before confirming your appointment, you will need to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
The role requires SSSC registration, and the successful applicant will have three months to apply. You should start your application promptly to be registered within six months. Further details are in the role profile.
If a qualification is needed to maintain your SSSC membership, guidance will be provided upon appointment. You must complete this qualification within the specified timeframe.
