Senior Computer Vision / Applied ML Engineer
Oxfordshire - Onsite
£150k+ with Significant Equity
An early-stage technology company is hiring a Senior Computer Vision / Applied ML Engineer to help build next-generation perception systems.
This is a high-impact opportunity within a small, high-calibre team, where you'll work across both geometric computer vision and machine learning, contributing to the core development of advanced vision pipelines and helping translate research into robust, real-world systems.
You'll be involved in a mix of vision algorithm development, model training, and system optimisation, with a focus on improving performance, robustness, and scalability across real-world environments.
What you'll be doing:
* Developing and improving core computer vision pipelines (e.g. geometry, spatial understanding, depth-related problems)
* Building and running ML experiments, including training, benchmarking, and evaluation
* Working with complex datasets to prepare, curate, and optimise model performance
* Supporting inference and deployment pipelines, including optimisation for real-world use
* Contributing to reproducible workflows, ensuring research outputs translate into reliable engineering systems
* Evaluating system performance across accuracy, speed, and robustness metrics
What they're looking for:
* Strong background in computer vision and/or machine learning with solid theoretical foundations
* PhD strongly preferred (Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, Mathematics, Physics, or similar)
* Track record of academic excellence, ideally from a top-tier university
* Additional postdoctoral or research experience is highly valued
* Evidence of rigorous thinking through publications, research, or complex technical work
* Experience with vision systems, ML pipelines, or real-world model deployment
* Comfortable working in a hands-on, high-ownership environment
Why consider it:
* Early-stage company with strong growth potential
* High level of ownership and technical influence
* Opportunity to work on challenging, real-world vision + ML problems
* Collaborative, high-performing team
