Are you an infrastructure engineer looking to level up with projects focused on automation and Microsoft's latest capabilities?
In this role you will support and maintain cloud solutions and services as directed and according to departmental policy to improve system health and reliability. Working in a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers ensuring services are delivered and used as required.
You'll have the chance to work on projects investigating Microsoft Generative AI capabilities as well as working on automation capability using Microsoft technologies to remove manual effort from maintenance processes within the Microsoft stack.
Job Description:
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will:
Be a skilled Practitioner and a role model in Infrastructure solutions. Responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the department and guiding teams on how to deliver quality Infrastructure products.
Assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles. With a focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability and quality you will be accountable for infrastructure solutions.
Be working on the design, build and testing of services that will serve over 100,000 users.
A working knowledge of the following would be beneficial when starting the role but not essential:
* Configuration and management of DLP, retention and sensitivity labels using Purview.
* Managing Entra ID user and groups and admin roles using Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
* Experience configuring and managing service principals, system and user managed identities.
* Experience using Git and CI/CD principles, using Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines.
* Experience building, configuring and managing Power Platform environments and experience using CI/CD principles for Power Platform solution deployment.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
Salary Information
Pay for this role is from £55,557 to £66,058.
The maximum salary for the grade is £66,058, however a Digital Allowance of up to £2,459 per annum is available for exceptional candidates. Digital Allowance is non-salary, and non-pensionable, and is classed as a temporary allowance. It is reviewed annually where it could be retained, amended, or removed.
Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.
Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.
In your employment history and personal statement, ensure you clearly demonstrate significant experience with the specified technologies, aligning closely with the essential criteria outlined below:
* Microsoft 365 (Copilot, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Loop, Power Platform, Exchange etc.).
* Building and extending Copilot Agents.
* Leveraging and optimising the use of Microsoft Graph and REST APIs.
* Using and securing Azure services, such as: Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure AI, Log Analytics/Sentinel.
* Debugging and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 workloads and custom solutions.
* Using the following languages: PowerShell/CLI, Kusto Query Language (KQL), YAML and in infrastructure as code language such as Bicep/ARM.

Stage 1: Application

Stage 2: Interview
If you're successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the experiences listed in the essential criteria.
You will be asked to do a 10 minute technical exercise at the start of your interview. Further details will be provided to candidates invited to interview.
