What you will be doing:

1. Leading and delivering experimental research on smart piezoelectric biomaterials and mechanoelectrical stimulation platforms for healthcare applications.
2. Working closely with the Principal Investigator to drive the project forward, meet key milestones, and generate high-quality, impactful outputs.
3. Designing, conducting, and analysing advanced in vitro (and desirable in vivo) studies, ensuring robust data generation and interpretation.
4. Supervising and mentoring PhD and MSc students, contributing to a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative research culture.
5. Publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and presenting research at national and international conferences.
6. Supporting laboratory coordination, research governance, ethics, and data management in line with best practice.
7. Contributing to funding applications, strategic planning, and building collaborations with academic, clinical, and industrial partners.

Qualifications/ experience:

8. Experience working in interdisciplinary research environments is preferred; however, training and support will be provided.
9. A PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline (e.g. biomaterials, biomedical engineering, materials science).
10. Experience with laboratory-based experimental research and data analysis.
11. Familiarity with cell culture, biomaterials characterisation, or biofabrication techniques.
12. Experience contributing to publications, reports, or research dissemination activities.
13. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a research team while demonstrating initiative and organisational skills.
