Taylor Woodrow is recruiting for a Sector Commercial Director to lead all commercial activities across a portfolio of major infrastructure projects, typically within the energy sector. Based at our head office in Watford, the Sector Commercial Director will be responsible for driving commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of contract management.
Duties
1. Provide commercial leadership through the development and implementation of commercial strategies.
2. Oversee the financial management of projects, including managing budgets, cash flow, and financial performance.
3. Support projects, the sector, and the wider business with an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance, and legal processes.
4. Manage project-based commercial staff within the sector, including recruitment and selection strategies.
5. Contribute to the Sector Business Plan and the Divisional Business Plan.
6. Improve low-performing areas by implementing suitable rectification measures, including coaching and mentoring.
7. Ensure all commercial processes and procedures are implemented across relevant projects.
8. Participate in contract negotiations with clients, aiming for satisfactory outcomes and customer satisfaction.
9. Define commercial parameters of opportunities clearly, ensuring alignment with the business plan.
10. Ensure procurement policy compliance and adherence to supply chain strategy.
11. Manage and reduce unnecessary costs and inefficiencies across the sector.
12. Verify and monitor monthly site financial reports, including Project Manager Reports and Cost Value Reports.
13. Monitor and ensure timely resolution of final accounts.
Person Specification
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to develop and implement strategies.
* Detailed knowledge and experience of construction contracts (NEC, FIDIC, IchemE).
* Previous experience as a Commercial Lead with a Tier 1 main contractor and/or delivery consultancy.
* Proven track record in building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
* Experience managing commercial processes across multiple large-scale infrastructure projects.
