Key Worker

The Growth Company (GC) Employment, Justice and Health team is excited to offer an opportunity for a Key Worker to join our team, supporting residents across the city as part of the Economically Inactive Trailblazer contract. This role focuses on empowering individuals to overcome barriers to employment by providing tailored one-to-one guidance, access to training, soft skills development, and employability support.

The Economically Inactive Trailblazer is a GMCA/DWP-funded contract designed to support residents in moving closer to the job market. It focuses on improving health and wellbeing, building skills and training, developing employability and soft skills, and addressing wider barriers to work. The contract will be delivered in close partnership with WorkWell, the Health Improvement Team, and Wellbeing Matters.

Key Responsibilities

1. Raise awareness of the service through targeted marketing within Manchester Foundation Trust hospitals to increase the number of referrals.
2. Deliver tailored advice, action plans, and interventions to support individuals in overcoming barriers to employment.
3. Conduct in-person and virtual appointments, completing robust needs assessments and referring participants to appropriate services.
4. Build relationships with local employers to identify and secure suitable job opportunities for participants.
5. Engage with referral partners, including Jobcentre Plus, Work Well, VCF sector and social prescribing teams to provide holistic support.
6. Promote the programme via outreach activities, events, and partnerships to increase awareness and referrals.
7. Ensure accurate data entry and case management using internal systems in line with compliance requirements.
8. Liaise with health, housing, welfare and skills providers to ensure seamless access to wrap-around support services.

About You

9. Approachable, empathetic, and skilled at building strong relationships with a wide range of individuals.
10. Organised and confident in managing a caseload and planning individual journeys towards employment.
11. Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt to diverse situations.
12. Passionate about helping people overcome barriers and make positive progress.
13. Comfortable working flexibly across community locations and in partnership with local services.

Skills Required

14. Experience of working with individuals with complex needs, including health-related and social barriers.
15. Proven track record in advice, guidance or coaching roles, preferably within employment or training services.
16. Good knowledge of the local labour market, support networks, and referral pathways.
17. Competent in using IT systems including CRM databases, Microsoft Office, and digital communication tools.
18. Understanding of safeguarding, data protection, and equal opportunities in line with GC policies.

We are currently unable to provide sponsorship for work permits or visas. Therefore, we can only consider candidates who already have the legal right to work in the UK.
