THE COMPANY
A long established, forward thinking, added-value, premium UK-owned, high-integrity food business with a focus on supplying both branded and bespoke food solutions into all UK trade channels. The business is privately owned, with third-generation management and boasts a dynamic strategy for growth supported with substantial manufacturing, marketing and product innovation investment.
As part of their drive for commercial growth, the Food Development team are looking to appoint a highly experienced ‘Specialist Baker’ in the role of Business Development Baker.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Food Applications Manager, the Business Development Baker is responsible for creating innovative baked products while identifying new business opportunities, developing partnerships and driving growth in the bakery sector.
Working cross functionally as a key team member both internally and with major customers, you will act as a key adviser to the product design team, contributing to bringing strategic growth product development projects to life by coordinating both factory operations, Commercial-Development Chefs, and customers. Responsibilities will also include conducting cost-in-use analyses, functional benchmarking and managing the concept to launch process with targeted future projects, all with a combined focus on delivering world-class baking innovation and business development, as well as market analysis and shaping strategies.
This is a central role within a high performing and collaborative ‘Team’ driven business where you can make a real difference through delivering your baking skills excellence, with recognition up to board level. If required, relocation support is available with this position.
ABOUT YOU
You are a highly experienced and skilled BAKER with outstanding knowledge and passion for the world of bakery. You love this category and have nurtured your bakery career likely over the last 10 years (or more!), working with customers, operations, marketing, development chefs and sales colleagues developing and delivering new bakery innovation strategies and products within any of the major UK trade channels and customers.
Your experience could have been gained working in a bakery as a Craft Baker, NPD-Bakery, as Bakery Development Chef OR working in a technical functional role for a major bakery ingredients business supplying bakery manufacturers, where you have gained a thorough understanding of baking technologies and applications.
