The role – what is it we would like you to do?
We are seeking a senior cost consultant to join our Manchester office. The successful candidate will support project leaders in delivering high-quality service, achieving successful client outcomes, sharing knowledge across projects, fostering innovation, and reinforcing our reputation. Projects include large commercial new builds for blue chip clients, private residential developments, towers, and government frameworks.
Your core duties will involve:
* Providing accurate cost advice and reporting to clients
* Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments
* Setting objectives and priorities proactively as a team player
* Maintaining effective communication for project success; liaising with managers for financial control
* Undertaking commercial management services with limited supervision
* Ensuring work outputs are accurate and timely
* Supporting the team leader/service leaders in project cost management
* Representing the company professionally; meeting, negotiating, and building client relationships
What skills and attributes are we looking for from you
* BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent
* Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
* Experience in healthcare and commercial fit-out desirable
* Private commercial sector experience, including offices, residential, hospitality, major projects, fit-out, and refurbishment
* Expert in Excel
* Proficient in CostX or similar cost planning software
* Sustainability and data skills, such as carbon assessment and Power BI
* Contract administration skills
* Pre- and post-contract experience
* Strong technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills
* Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, disciplined, and commercially aware
* A team player with a positive attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
