A world-renowned proprietary trading firm is seeking a Support Engineer to join its Fixed Income Technology team in London, supporting high-performance trading systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Solid understanding of Windows and Linux environments (basic scripting, file systems, and process management).
* Familiarity with reading and editing configuration files (YAML, JSON, XML, etc.).
* Ability to review application logs and interpret system behaviour.
* Basic knowledge of networking concepts, deployment processes, and version control tools (e.g., Git).
* Exposure to relational databases and SQL for data investigation and troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with maintaining Python environments and basic server management tasks.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills — confident, proactive, and unafraid to raise issues early.
* Calm and structured approach when supporting business-critical systems in a dynamic trading environment.
Nice to Have:
* Exposure to C# or Python sufficient to follow code logic or identify likely problem areas.
* Experience with monitoring systems (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or equivalent).
* Familiarity with message buses (e.g., TIBCO RV, Kafka) or distributed applications.
* Understanding of financial systems or Fixed Income products (helpful but not required).
