A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Waste Manager to join their Waste Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a waste management environment. The Role Key purpose of the role of the role is to provide effective leadership and management of the Waste Management Unit, ensuring the efficient delivery of operational services, budgetary control, staff development, and compliance with statutory and health and safety responsibilities. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: • Managing and monitoring the delivery of compliant waste services, ensuring performance and resource coordination. • Leading a team of operational and support staff, including responsibility for HR matters, Health & Safety, and performance management. • Controlling associated budgets, ensuring financial targets are met. • Procuring and managing both internal and external contracts and service agreements. • Developing service and team action plans and reporting on performance. • Preparing reports and strategic plans for internal and external stakeholders. • Building strong partnerships with external agencies, the private sector, and community organisations to improve service delivery. • Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, especially regarding the Council’s Operator’s Licence. The Candidate To be considered for this role you will require: • Experience working in a waste management service in a management capacity. • A Level 7 qualification (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma) or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience. • Strong leadership and staff management skills, including experience in HR and H&S matters. The below skills would be beneficial for the role: • Budget management and financial control experience. • Understanding of current waste-related legislation, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. • Proven ability to lead service improvement and culture change initiatives. • Experience working with external partners and multi-agency environments. The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £33 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £26 per hour PAYE).
