Position: Specialist Practitioner - Audiology (Full Time, Fixed Term)
Working full time: 37.5 hours per week
We are looking for one full‑time Specialist Practitioner in Audiology to join our multi‑skilled team on a fixed‑term basis for 12 months to start in June 2026. The successful candidate should be able to offer a range of basic and specialist audiological assessment/rehabilitation techniques in adults and/or paediatrics. Experience in bone conduction hearing implants would be desirable for this role, although training can be provided.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform autonomously and take a supervisory role in a broad range of routine and complex technical activities within audiology.
* Deliver all technical work through skilled performance of a broad range of work and activities, the majority of which are complex and non‑routine.
* Formulate individualised care plans for individuals with a hearing loss, working within in‑patients, acute and community audiology, GP direct referrals for hearing aids and domiciliary visits.
* Line‑manage junior staff and provide mentoring.
Key Requirements
* Professional registration with AHCS/HCPC.
* Knowledge and understanding of relevant professional policies and procedures, clinical governance, audit and service improvement processes.
* Up‑to‑date appropriate record of clinical competence.
About the Service
The Audiology Service is based at the Countess of Chester Hospital and is delivered by a multi‑skilled team of scientists, audiologists, assistant audiologists and administrators. The department delivers a comprehensive adult rehab service including adults with complex needs, tinnitus and hearing therapy services. A full paediatric assessment and rehab service is provided including the Newborn Hearing Screening Team. A diagnostic audiovestibular service is provided and we are a regional centre for Bone Conduction Hearing Implants.
