Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of B5 Occupational Therapist in the adult eating disorders intensive day service. The service is based at Imperial Avenue in Norton, operating 8am‑6pm Monday‑Friday, with shift patterns of 8am‑4pm or 10am‑6pm (opening times subject to review). The role also involves supporting people in their own homes. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑focused care in a community setting. The role focuses on improving the lives of people with Anorexia Nervosa by delivering evidence‑based services that promote recovery and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
* Deliver occupationally focused assessments and interventions, including 1:1 and group sessions, as part of a dynamic service delivery model.
* Receive requests, triage and prioritise occupational therapy needs, completing evidence‑based assessments and interventions for self‑care, productivity and leisure.
* Co‑produce negotiated occupational goals with service users and evaluate them collaboratively.
* Participate in clinical/professional and management supervision.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary team working and service improvement and quality initiatives.
* Use the Trust electronic patient record system and abide by all Trust policies and procedures.
* Respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.
Person Specification
* Essential Qualifications: Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent; Registration with HCPC (or in progress at time of application); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 for international recruits.
* Essential Experience: Experience working in a variety of practice areas during student placements or postgraduate training.
* Essential Knowledge: Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice; Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities.
* Essential Skills: Communicate complex and sensitive information appropriately; Solve complex clinical problems; Complete good‑quality record keeping and report writing; Manage own caseload and prioritise effectively; Motivate and work positively and constructively with team members; Apply latest research evidence and evaluative thinking in practice.
* Desirable Qualifications: Post‑graduate training in a relevant specialist area.
* Desirable Experience: Experience supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism; Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
* Desirable Knowledge: Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice; Knowledge of the evidence base for the clinical practice area.
