About the Company:
Our client is a rapidly expanding London-regional (Preston-based) ecommerce specialist operating multiple online retail brands across heating, bathrooms and related home-ware sectors. With a strong multi-store Magento 2 ecosystem and a strong reputation for customer service and growth, they are now investing in their internal development team to support further scale.
Role overview:
They are seeking a full-time Magento 2 Developer to become a core member of their in-house digital team. You’ll be responsible for hands-on development, maintenance, bug-fixing, performance tuning and infrastructure improvements across a complex multi-store Magento 2 setup. You will work closely with the ecommerce manager and their hosting/infra partner, apply security updates, optimise performance and drive enhancements that support next-phase growth.
Key responsibilities:
* Maintain, correct and enhance the Magento 2 platform – including multi-store setups, modules and bespoke functionality.
* Investigate, document and fix reported bugs: from reproduction to root-cause analysis and corrective coding.
* Develop code to specification for bespoke projects and extensions.
* Conduct regular platform health checks, apply security patches, ensure uptime, performance and scalability.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders (ecommerce, hosting/infra) to plan and deliver infrastructure improvements and server architecture optimisation.
* Proactively suggest and implement enhancements to the website, platform and infrastructure that will support the business’s growth trajectory.
Experience & skills required:
* Strong hands-on Magento 2 development experience in a live ecommerce environment.
* Expert PHP and MySQL skills, including working with EAV data structures.
* Experience with JavaScript frameworks (jQuery and/or Prototype).
* Good working knowledge of Git and version-control workflows.
* Experience supporting and maintaining complex, scalable web applications.
* Knowledge of CSS and/or CSS pre-processors.
* Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to code quality.
* Candidates must be able to work onsite 5 days a week in Preston.
