Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract Type: Permanent

Are you an energetic, highly motivated, and customer-focused individual with a passion for public service? We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our dynamic Library Service, providing essential frontline support across the Barrow and Furness area.
This role is incredibly varied. You will be at the heart of the community, acting as a welcoming point of contact and ensuring every customer—from toddlers at rhyme-time to older residents seeking digital support—has a positive, inclusive, and enriching experience.
Key responsibilities:
* Frontline Customer Service: act as the first point of contact for all visitors, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment.
* Promoting Reading & Literacy: Actively champion the joy of reading. You will help customers discover new authors, and support literacy initiatives across the service.
* Information and IT Support: deal effectively with all customer enquiries—face-to-face, over the phone, and digitally including support with IT and digital services.
* Operational Duties: Carry out essential general library duties, support building security, and perform basic health & safety tasks.
* Events and Activities: Actively support and participate in a wide range of events and activities for all ages, from story times to digital workshops.
* Flexible Teamwork: Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team
* Be able to travel and work flexibly across the Barrow library locations including Askam, Dalton, Roose, Ulverston & Walney
