Accounts Manager – Accountancy Practice

REED are looking for an experienced and qualified Manager to join our clients established accountancy practice. This key leadership role is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing the delivery of high-quality accounting services, and supporting the development of junior team members. The ideal candidate will be ACCA or ACA qualified, with strong technical knowledge and a passion for client service.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of statutory accounts, management accounts, and VAT returns.
* Review work prepared by junior and senior accountants, providing feedback and technical guidance.
* Act as the main point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and offering proactive advice.
* Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, FRS 102, and relevant tax legislation.
* Support Partners with business development, including attending client meetings and preparing proposals.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, supporting their training and progression.
* Monitor workflow, budgets, and deadlines to ensure efficient service delivery.
* Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* ACCA or ACA qualified (essential).
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
* Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
* Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or IRIS.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.

* Experience with cloud-based systems and digital transformation.
