Overview
Leading global FinTech seeks a DevOps Lead to join, lead and grow their DevOps team based from their Solihull (near Birmingham) HQ 3 days per week, with 2 days per week flexi working (working from home).
You will join a very established FinTech business with offices across the globe who face volatility in their market, meaning increased reliance on my client’s software. Already providing more than 12% of the market software, my client is in a strong position to build on their leading position, through continuing to invest in their software and further new client growth in Europe and elsewhere globally.
Their DevOps team owns the foundations for this growth. The challenges they are facing now are the following:
* Security while moving to the cloud
* Automation thanks to Infrastructure as Code
* Reliability while scaling the platform for the growing customer base.
* FinOps: Find the best balance between costs and performance
Key responsibilities
* Decide on the right tech stack, tools and plan to reach the DevOps vision.
* Lead and mentor the team of DevOps engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
* Work with the team, using agile methodologies: manage and optimize production, QA, and development environments for high availability, scalability, and performance.
* Design and implement robust monitoring systems that proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and system failures.
* Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to streamline deployment processes and improve operational efficiency.
* Drive improvements to the platform and tooling used to deliver a reliable, secure and performance platform.
* Automate and streamline CI/CD pipelines for robust, quick builds and deployments.
* Respond to incidents on mission‑critical systems, ensuring the platform remains secure and highly available and minimising client and market impact.
* Drive the adoption of new technologies within the business to improve reliability, performance, scalability, and security.
Key skills & experience sought
* Proven DevOps leadership experience, managing a team, setting high standards and driving growth.
* Proven experience in a DevOps/SRE or similar role, preferably in a software development or SaaS environment, with experience in FinTech or Energy Trading (ETRM) or related.
* Advanced knowledge of Azure Cloud and Containerisation technologies.
* Strong proficiency in Automation Scripting.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or equivalent products.
* Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
* Relevant certifications such as Azure, DevOps or industry‑specific certifications are advantageous.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
