Role Characteristics:

Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.

All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels.

All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.

There are opportunities to put together strategic people plans within the nuclear sector, work on wider company people projects, deliver an excellent first class service to employees and ensure the administration and processes that engulf working life are implemented effectively and fairly

Accountabilities:

1. In conjunction with the onsite HSE team deliver a comprehensive Safety and Health advisory and guidance service to Project Managers and their teams to ensure all aspects of best practice safe working environment are established and maintained
2. Monitor Project site compliance and procedures against standards, expectations and policies and propose reasonably practical solutions to ensure Dalkia are leading Zero Harm and Making Safety Personal.
3. Review Risk Assessments, Method Statements and POWRA
4. Carry out HSE audits and targeted inspections as directed by the HSSE Lead.
5. Provide expert resource for investigations into incidents and near misses, illnesses and injuries in order to establish root causes and advise recommendations for changes and improvements to prevent reoccurrences.
6. Proactively identify complex challenges and think systemically. Identify and offer solutions to enable continuous improvement and drive implementation of actions to completion.
7. Work closely with the client HSE team, the business leadership, HR and training teams to define appropriate safety initiatives and plans
8. Work on a range of HSE improvement projects and initiatives
9. Prepare presentations and data/insights analysis working with other subject matter experts as required
10. Influence, coach and drive impact through effective working relationships

Key Deliverables:

11. Working knowledge of HSEQ processes, practices and systems and the ability to drive their improvement.
12. Knowledge of HSE systems design and implementation
13. Ability to analyse and interpret HSE data in order to drive informed data driven business decisions, and carry them out.
14. The ability to build professional working relationships with internal and external staff, up to and including Senior Leadership Level.
15. Support the development of Proactive Safety Reporting ensuring a continuous improvement safety culture is fully established onsite

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience

16. A recognised Safety qualification (Level 6 NEBOSH diploma or equivalent)
17. Construction Industry specific training
18. PTTLS Level 3 award (desirable)
19. H&S BSc/MSc and Chartered/Grad G/CMIOSH status (desirable)

Additional Qualifications/ Experience:

20. Ideally 3 years of HSE experience in the nuclear sector or other highly regulated environments.
21. Experience should include a focus on safety performance management and effective influencing of construction managers and teams.
22. Must have demonstrated effective multitasking and project management skills
23. Must have strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills and be able to build relationships and advise senior management.
24. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and business acumen, with the ability to challenge and champion change.
25. Experienced in discussing and managing performance, giving feedback and agreeing changes.
26. Self-motivated with excellent time and priority management
27. Excellent networking
28. High levels of IT literacy
29. Candidate would need to bring a can do, entrepreneurial attitude and a focus on impact.
30. Can generate a sense of urgency and importance – demanding of others.
31. Remains calm under pressure.
32. Passionate about our sector, embodies the Dalkia Values.
33. Keen to continue learning and developing their skillset, having a growth mindset

Working Pattern of Attendance and Location(s):

34. 37hrs per week
35. Location: Primary: Hinkley Point C Site
