Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist or Consultant Psychological Therapist within the Personality Disorder Hub in the North East of England on a part time basis - this vacancy is for 0.8 WTE. This is a well-established service within the Specialist Care Group and has a well-defined clinical strategy. You will join the service at an exciting time with opportunity to influence and support service innovations and developments in relation to Trust wide and National drivers for change.

The Hub team comprises a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, psychological therapists, community practitioners, and a speech and language therapist. There are also plans to expand the team further with the introduction of an occupational therapist. The team provide the following:

Care co-ordination/case management and treatment for a limited number of service users

Evidence-based psychological therapies - predominantly Structured Clinical Management (SCM) and trauma stabilisation, whilst drawing strongly on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT). These are delivered in adapted form during the most unstable phase of a service users care pathway.

Scaffolding (indirect joint working, governance and training) to other CNTW staff who are also working with service users presenting with personality difficulties.

Main duties of the job

As the Consultant Psychologist you will be responsible for the professional leadership and clinical strategy for the service. You will work collectively as part of the Hub's leadership team with the Clinical Manager and Team Lead to support the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective clinical care. You will work strategically with Associate Directors to review and develop service provision to meet the needs of service users in the context of Trust priorities, National guidance and drivers.

Working broadly across the Trust, you will provide expert opinion on complex cases and provide organisational advice where required. You will have significant experience working with service users who have personality, relational and emotional difficulties, who present with significant risk. You will be well versed in risk assessment and management and have in depth knowledge of enhanced safety planning.

The team has a strong commitment to clinical excellence, professional wellbeing and building resilience for what can undoubtedly be challenging roles. You will support innovations for service delivery and staff wellbeing while leading on and strengthening the open and positive culture of the team. As a team we welcome diversity and celebrate individual differences. We have a strong reflective culture, providing protected time and forums for learning, growth and development.
