General Practitioner – Out of Hours
Join Practice Plus Group as an Out of Hours General Practitioner. You will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care during evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, supporting the local community with 111 referral patients and triage.
We are looking for motivated GPs within commuting distance to Ipswich, Colchester, or Clacton‑on‑Sea, who are passionate about urgent care and eager to contribute to our ongoing mission to provide accessible, safe, and effective healthcare outside regular surgery hours. OOH service hours: 18:30‑08:00 Monday‑Friday and 24 hours over the weekend. Flexible shift patterns are available.
Contract options: Bank (PAYE) or Self‑Employed (LTD Company or Sole Trader).
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive clinical assessments and management for patients requiring urgent care outside normal surgery hours, including base working, home visitations, and CAS.
* Manage a varied caseload including acute minor illnesses, injuries, and chronic condition exacerbations.
* Accurately record consultations and clinical notes using the Adastra clinical system.
* Collaborate with nurses, paramedics, and administrative staff to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
* Make appropriate referrals and liaise with secondary care services, ensuring patient safety through effective clinical decision‑making.
* Participate in clinical audits, governance activities and continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
* Fully qualified General Practitioner with GMC registration and relevant UK licence to practice.
* Previous experience in primary care, GP surgery, urgent treatment centres or out‑of‑hours settings.
* Experience using the Adastra clinical system is desirable.
* Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to manage a diverse, sometimes complex caseload.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
