Job Function
To undertake installation, commissioning, and maintenance works alongside the Security Systems team whilst operating in compliance with company policy and procedure.
Principle Accountabilities
1. Install, commission, and hand over various fire systems, including Addressable/Non-addressable systems, Air Sampling, Beam Detection, Wireless systems, in accordance with current standards and Codes of Practice.
2. Work within project time constraints, promptly identifying and communicating potential risks to project delivery dates.
3. Commission and hand over systems according to specifications and drawings, including providing client demonstrations.
4. Hold FIA qualifications (BS5839 Fundamentals/Advanced and Commissioning).
5. Possess a comprehensive understanding of BS5839 (All parts) and SSSTS to supervise third parties on site as required.
6. Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety requirements.
7. Maintain the health, safety, and welfare of yourself and the team in accordance with company policies.
8. Complete relevant documentation (via tablet or paperwork) in line with FIA & BAFE requirements.
9. Support company policies and best practices around fire and security, emphasizing the protection of sensitive customer information.
10. Knowledge of integration of detection systems into other disciplines is advantageous.
11. Provide technical support across departments within the City.
12. Assist in training and developing trainee engineers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Minimum of 8 years proven experience with Fire Alarms.
2. FIA qualifications (Advanced and Commissioning).
3. Full understanding of BS5839 standards.
4. Knowledge of integration of detection systems into other disciplines is advantageous.
5. Ability to program cause and effect for various manufacturers from a laptop.
6. Excellent communication skills, as the role involves customer interaction.
7. Ability to work independently and organize time effectively.
8. Good understanding of industry standards related to our systems.
9. Full understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
10. Valid full clean driving license and willingness to travel nationwide.
11. ECS/CSCS Card, IPAFF, and Asbestos awareness certification are essential.
12. SSSTS qualification for supervising third-party contractors on site is essential.
13. Willingness to go the extra mile and adapt to flexible working hours.
14. Willingness to travel at short notice, including overnight stays for large system commissioning.
15. Availability for on-call duties during system soak tests and warranty periods.
16. Self-motivated, professional, positive, and proactive team player.
