Mammographer / pacs support

Birmingham (West Midlands)
Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust
Posted: 19 August
Offer description

The applicant will coordinate and deliver the PACs requirements within the service, including City Hospital, Walsall Manor Hospital, and the five mobile screening vans, providing highly specialised support to the team.

To ensure effective patient management, the post holder will work as one of two PACs mammographers within the service. The role requires close collaboration with clinical teams and service providers daily to offer PACs support.

The PACS Coordinator Radiographer will be the first point of contact within the department, leading and managing the PACS system, including regular monitoring and maintenance. The post holder will also be responsible for training staff in PACS to ensure knowledge dissemination within the breast unit, maintaining high standards of care for all clients and patients. Troubleshooting via clinical and non-clinical pathways will be an essential part of the role, given the critical impact of PACS on clinical outcomes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a B6 PACs Mammographer. We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic Radiographer holding a Postgraduate Certificate in Mammography to work across the Breast Units at City Hospital, Walsall Manor Hospital, and the five dedicated mobile screening units used within the community.

Our programme is one of the largest screening initiatives in the West Midlands. As an innovative team, we undertake numerous trials and have recently incorporated new technologies such as ABUS and CESM.

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWB) serves Birmingham and the Black Country, one of the country's most culturally diverse areas. We are a friendly, welcoming place where you can belong and grow.

We care deeply for our patients, population, and staff. Our values—Ambition, Respect, and Compassion—are central to our work and interactions. They guide how we serve our community and support our team.

Our Trust aims to be more than just a healthcare provider. Our purpose is to "Improve the Life Chances and Health Outcomes of our Population," inspiring us daily and making us unique.

We want working at SWB to feel like more than just a job—a place where you belong, feel safe, and are rewarded. We support career development in various ways. When we say we're 'with you all the way,' we genuinely mean it. Visit our website to learn more about our ambitions and people plans.

The four partner Trusts of the Black Country Provider Collaborative—Dudley Group NHS FT, Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust, and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust—are working together to deliver better, faster, and safer care to the Black Country and beyond.

Supporting this vision, we are exploring new models of care that:

* Enhance elective and planned care service delivery through 'hot and cold' arrangements
* Optimize resource use via consolidation and specialisation
* Reduce unwarranted variance and standardise care across the four sites through a 'Networked Service Solution'

While this role is hosted by Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust, there may be an expectation to work flexibly across all four partner Trusts to meet patient and service needs.

As a major employer in the region, we are committed to supporting a healthy work-life balance and will consider flexible working requests based on individual circumstances and service needs. We encourage applicants to discuss their personal circumstances with the recruiting manager during onboarding.
