FareShare Yorkshire operates three centres, redistributing surplus food to hospices, pantries, shelters, and community centres. With nine hundred thousand people in Yorkshire facing food insecurity each year, we supply frontline groups with the food they need to support their communities.
Role Description
Volunteer Driver based at our Barnsley centre. You will load and unload the van with food for our charity partners and deliver orders on planned routes. You will occasionally collect surplus food from partners. You will ensure loads are secure, complete simple paperwork, and represent FareShare Yorkshire with care on every route.
What you will do
• Drive a medium van up to three and a half tonne on planned delivery and collection routes
• Load and unload food safely, using good manual handling technique
• Keep the vehicle clean and carry out simple pre drive checks
• Follow food safety and van security procedures
About you
• Minimum age 25 years old
• Full UK driving licence and confident driving in towns and on motorways
• Calm, reliable, and safety minded with good time management
• Physically able to lift and move food crates safely
• Committed to our mission to feed people in need and reduce waste

Practical details
• Location: Barnsley
• Shifts: Any day weekday between 08.30 and 14.00
• Commitment: Even one regular day helps.
